Introducing BIG IRON.

A passive, transformer based stereo processor.

Loaded with two legendary Jensen transformers.

Use it on the drum bus, or use it to sum the final mix through for that final touch of analog glue.

Analog Prairie equipment was recently used to record Midwest band The Coming Tides' instrumental album "Parks Dept."

All tracks recorded through an RME Fireface UCXII. We mic'd the guitar amp with a Shure SM58 through our "Spring Green" color box.

We used 6 mics on the drums. Sending them through 3 Big Iron units before our Focusrite Octopre. From which we send the tracks via ADAT to our RME Fireface

Synth was recorded via MIDI from an Alesis V25 using Halion Sonic VST Engine.

Bass Guitar was recorded via direct input to the RME Fireface.

We used a hybrid mixing and mastering approach. Using a combination of software plug ins and outboard processing.
From our RME, we sent stereo channels to Big Iron, then to the Tegeler Creme Bus Compressor/EQ, and back to our RME Fireface UCXII. There was no further digital processing after the summed signal. What you hear is the raw analog summed audio.
